Strawberry Shortcake Party Ideas, Decorations, Birthday Cake and Recipes

These Strawberry Shortcake party ideas were originally written for a Strawberry Shortcake party in a school gymnasium. You can easily adapt them for parties at home or other locations.

Food:

Cake idea:

Other food ideas:

  • Strawberry thumbprint cookies
  • Pink punch: mix pink lemonade and ginger ale or Sprite, with fresh strawberries floating in the bowl - or use the Strawberry Pink Lemonade recipe at the California Strawberry Commission
  • Ingredients for make-it-yourself strawberry shortcakes (individual shortcakes, strawberries, canned whipped cream or cool whip. Plain or strawberry yogurt is a nice topping option for those who don't want too much sweet stuff.
  • Strawberry Shortcake Sandwiches recipe at the California Strawberry Commission
  • Fruit salad with strawberries in a strawberry bowl or large red bowl (toss fruit salad with some lemon juice to help keep it looking fresh.
Decoration Ideas
  • Strawberry Shortcake Pinata - decoration and/or activity (you'll find one if you click in the Strawberry Shortcake search, above.)
  • Strawberry Shortcake Balloons - one or two attached to table centerpieces or at back corners of table. Also good for marking the party location (tie to mailbox), one for each guest, with Strawberry Coin Purses tied at end of ribbon/string to hold them down (put something in coin purses if necessary to weigh them down - perhaps a few of those shiny glass flat "rocks" used for home decorating - usually sold by bag in craft shops and dollar stores)
  • Pink Felt Hat - use as wall decoration, table decoration, hang from ceiling if possible, with streamers and balloons.
  • Make a balloon bouquet using red pink and white latex balloons and/or Strawberry Shortcake Mylar Balloons and attach it over the table - to a light fixture, if available. Use curling ribbon instead of string for a decorative effect. Make the ribbons different lengths. You can attach Strawberry Shortcake stickers to the bottoms of some or all of the ribbons. Do not remove the stickers from the backing, but cut each one out, then separate the sticker from the backing at the top just enough to insert part of a balloon's ribbon, then press back together.

Video:

  • If the school will let you use a projector, and there is a screen in the gym (and not too much light), projecting Strawberry Shortcake DVDs would be fun (sound optional.) If not, perhaps they have a tv you can use.

Music:

Other Activities:

  • If you have internet access during the party, the guests can play Strawberry Shortcake games online at StrawberryShortcake.com.
