Hula skirts
Cut pieces of yarn that reach from the child's waist to the
ankle and measure the yarn for the waist as well, leaving extra
length for tying the yarn. About 50 - 75 prices of yarn per
skirt. Tie one end of each yarn evenly around the waistband
yarn.
Leis
Use tube macaroni and die them with rubbing alcohol and food
coloring overnight in an air tight container. Drain, then put
noodles on wax paper to dry. For the necklace, cut a piece of
string which is double the length from each child's fingertips
to elbow. Then cut 50 construction paper flowers per necklace
and use a hole punch and punch through center. Laminate all
flowers, if you like, and string onto the necklace alternating
with the tube macaroni. (Wrapping a piece of tape around one
end of the string makes it easier to push through the macaroni.)
Decorations
For fun decorations: Arthur's
ocean printables: print fish crabs, sea horses, etc. (Some items are printable coloring pages. If these links are no longer available,
just search the internet for ocean printables.)
Activities
Fill a small child size pool with sea shells for sensory play
and mark with different dots to go with different prizes. Use
a sea horse printable to do a pull sea horse matching number
to prizes game.
